On the eve of the "International Museum Day" - the professional holiday celebrated by museums around the world, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the "Night at the Museum" project from 7.00 pm to 00.00 am on 15th of May 2015.International project "Night in the Museum" was launched in 1997 (Berlin). Later on the initiative was supported by UNESCO and ICOM (International Council of Museums). In 2006 the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan became a member of the project. For the past 10 years the event has become an attractive and a very expected event in the cultural life of the Almaty city.
“Museum for a sustainable society” – motto of the museum night in 2015. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the museums’ image through the organization of extraordinary events and programmes dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage.
Every year more than 7,000 Kazakhstan citizens attend the “Night in the Museum”. This event gives a powerful impetus to the popularization of museums, crafts development and quality improvement of goods and services in the sphere of culture. On this night museums open their repositories and give visitors an opportunity to join the rare collections and to develop their creative skills through the offered workshops.
The opening of 8 exhibitions from the museum collections will be the main event of "Museum Night-2015": "Memories are stronger than time", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, "United family", devoted to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan People's Assembly, "Values of Islamic culture", "Kazakhstan in the Bronze Age (XVIII - IX centuries. BC .) ", "Collection of samovars XIX-XX centuries", exhibitions of the great Kazakh artist of the second half of the XX century - Ivan Stadnichuk and of the honored architect of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kaynarbaev A.S., and a special demonstration of two items from the fund of natural history - skins of the Turan tiger and the Tien-Shan brown bear, registered in the International Red Book.
Free museum tours, introducing the history and culture of ancient, medieval and modern Kazakhstan will be organized for the public. On this day a big concert program will be offered to the Museum visitors, performance of folk artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan ethno-cultural associations of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan, creative and musical groups, as well as the fashion parade of national clothes and hairstyles. The honored guests – National Artist of the USSR and the Republic of Kazakhstan, film director – Asanali Ashimov and the actor Farhad Abdraimov will come to congratulate the museum on this Night.
The visitors will have an opportunity to take part in numerous workshops on folk handicrafts: on ceramics, embroidery, jewelry, metalwork, woodwork, knitting, felt- and batik making, on Arabic and Japanese calligraphy, origami, catagen, kendama, sand painting, learning how-to-play the drums, as well as production of the traditional Kazakh instrument – dombra and 3-D figures making.
Visitors will also be offered to see interesting interactive educational programmes in the Kazakh ethnography hall: "The items of museum, which names and purposes are unknown", whereas archeologists of the museum will offer a quest "Culture and Life of the Bronze Age."
On this day an interesting show program will be organized: DJ Umberto performance, "Almaty Drums Project", «Danc Triada Tridal» and Hodulists show, as well as the fire show «Fire Sunset» and dance lessons from the studio "Impulse". In addition, visitors can get acquainted with the production of Almaty restaurants.
