As a result of the Rapid Assessment on COVID-19 Impact on Youth Lives in Central Asia conducted by UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, it became known that the pandemic has had a negative impact on the youth mental health due to isolation, social distancing, schools and universities closures, as well as economic difficulties and fear for the health of their family members and friends. The widespread presence of the symptoms of depression and anxiety among young people in Central Asia considerably increased and now the level of mental health issues are even higher than in the last year. It is interconnected with prolonged health crisis, distance learning, inability to travel safely and the labour market disruptions.
Thus, UNESCO supports a youth-led initiative called ZESEKU, which is an online space of psychological support services for youth and has already supported 2 500 people in Kazakhstan. Their team of experts with more than 8 years of experience answer freely anonymous questions, conduct open webinars/open talks on various relevant topics in psychology.
Because of the cooperation, UNESCO and ZESEKU are going to organize a three-day online sessions to provide adequate mental health support for young people from Central Asia.
Ms. Olga Solonenko, Psychologist of psychoanalytic orientation, Supervisor of the Association of Consultants and Supervisors of the Russian Federation, Member of the Society for the Development of Analytical Psychology of the Republic of Kazakhstan will conduct following sessions:
3 November at 7 pm (Nur-Sultan time) - Living in isolation and its psychological consequences
