During the last webinar dedicated to cultural and creative industries in 2021, ms Hiroko Tsuboi-Friedman talk about how the UNESCO 2005 Convention coincides with other international documents in the field of cultural and creative industries, as well as abut the Japanese experience of their development.

Speaker: Ms Hiroko Tsuboi-Friedman. She is an Expert Facility member of the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. She supports the implementation and promotion of the Convention through workshops, lectures, and research projects focusing on areas such as cultural policy, the status of artists, freedom of expressions and social inclusion. She is a Deputy Director for International Affairs of the Science Council of Japan Secretariat and was a Senior Policy Researcher in charge of the international youth exchanges for cohesive society policies of the Cabinet Office. She is also a Co-Founder of Culture All Nippon (CAN), creating a platform connecting various stakeholders to support arts and culture. She serves as a Board member for the Kanagawa Prefecture's Arts and Culture Promotion Council and is a member of organisations including the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Federation of Coalitions for Cultural Diversity (IFCCD). She holds a B.A. in Art History from Smith College, USA, and an M.Sc. in Sociology from Hitotsubashi University, Japan.
